Over 2,000 houses flooded by incessant rain in Dang

Over two thousand houses and cottages in Deukhuri of Dang have been inundated due to flood caused by incessant rain in the past few days.
Ward no 2,3,7 and 9 of Sonpur VDC and Ward no 4,5,6 of Sisahaniya VDC of Duekhuri as well as Lalmatiya VDC have been badly affected due to flooding in the Rapti River as well as Dulai and Singe rivulet. Some 30 cottages have collapsed and some have even been swept away by Rapti River in Deukhuri, according to reports. However, there are no reports of any human casualties.
The swollen Rapti River flooded the three VDC’s and caused much havoc and panic among the villagers Wednesday night.
A police team is currently involved in rescuing as well as providing relief to locals who have been rendered homeless after their houses were swept away by Rapti River.
Local authorities visited the three villages this morning to gauge the damage caused by the flooding.
