PM Khanal agreed to appoint four cabinet ministers from MJF at a meeting with MJF chairman Yadav and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal this evening at his residence in Baluwatar.

As per the agreement, MJF will get a post of Deputy Prime Minister looking after the portfolio of Foreign Ministry, and three cabinet ministries – Ministry for Labour and Transport Management, Ministry for Agriculture and Cooperatives and Ministry for Commerce and Supplies.

MJF chairman Yadav himself is likely to join the government as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs. The party is yet to pick other ministers.

Earlier, MJF had been refusing to join the government demanding four ministries, while the PM Khanal had offered only three. With PM Khanal’s assurance for four ministries, MJF has agreed to join the government.

Khanal, Dahal and Yadav have also agreed to expand the cabinet by Monday. UCPN (Maoist) is yet to recommend more ministers from the party.

Although, there has been an agreement to allocate 11 ministries for UCPN (M), the party has forwarded only four candidates so far.
