Rs 1.4 million robbed from Standard Chartered Bank in Lalitpur

Two masked robbers made off with Rs. 1.4 million from the Standard Chartered Bank at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur Friday afternoon.

The two men, who came on a motorbike, barged into the bank at around 13:10 pm, took the bank staff hostage at gunpoint and robbed the cash.

Eyewitnesses said one person pointed pistol at the staff while the other collected the cash from a counter and whisked away on the same motorbike.

Locals tried to stop them but they managed to flee. The bank security did not retaliate as the two men robbed the bank.

The bank is located within 100-meter distance from the Lalitpur District Police Office.
