USA revises visa fees

The United States has announced new fee structure for immigrant visas effective from July 13.

New fees for immigrant visa will go into effect on July 13, 2010. According to the US embassy in Kathmandu, the revised fees are the same worldwide and cover actual operating expenses for the 301 overseas consular posts, 23 domestic passport agencies and other centers that provide these consular services.
The employment based visa fee has gone up to US$ 720 from US$355 while Diversity Visa (DV) lottery 'additional processing fee' has been raised to US$ 440 from the US$375.
As per the revised rate, family-based immigrant visa processing will cost US$ 355, which is US$ 25 less than the existing rate. Likewise, the rates of other immigrant visas (SIVs, DVs, etc.) have been fixed at US$305 from the existing US$ 355.
Similarly, the immigrant visa applicants will have to pay US$ 74 as security surcharge. Earlier the rate was US$ 45.
