Following attack on the unit chairman of the UML-affiliated All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), Tri Chandra Campus in capital, the situation had turned tense in the area for few hours.
Unidentified attackers struck Samik Badal at around 11:30 am inside the campus compound. Four other students were also severely beaten by the attackers. Injured Badal has been rushed to Kathmandu Model Hospital for treatment. Three fingers of his left hand has been cut off besides receiving injuries in arm and back.
Students of the campus have been demonstrating, obstructing the road, demanding arrest and punishment on the attackers. In a statement ANNFSU blamed Nepali Congress aligned-Nepal Student Union for the attack.
Police have been mobilised to bring the situation under control. Police said attackers have been identified and efforts are being made to arrest them at the earliest possible.
