Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood met with Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday morning to express his government's dissatisfaction on cancellation of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) contract.
The meeting was held at Dahal's residence in Naya Bazzar. Dahal is learnt to have informed the Indian envoy that fault was of the government.
Under Maoist pressure, the government cancelled its earlier decision to lend MRP printing contract to an Indian company. The two governments had also signed the agreement to this effect.
According to Indian media reports, Indian external affairs minister S M Krishna intervened to get the contract despite the foreign ministry here having floated an open bidding tender.
Besides MRP contract, Sood is learnt to have discussed latest political development and Maoist protests to topple the current coalition government. Sood on Tuesday met with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to express his dissatisfaction over on cancellation of the contract.
