Over 30 houses gutted as huge blaze rages in Siraha

SIRAHA: At least three persons were injured, one of them critically and over 30 houses were burnt to ashes when a fire broke out in Aurahi VDC-4 in Siraha district on Sunday.

Twelve-year-old Usha Kumari Yadav was critically injured and another two sustained injuries when the fire that broke out from the house of Jabdev Yadav engulfed over 30 houses.
The fire continues to spread to more houses despite the attempts by the locals and policemen at battling it. Locals said that the fire is out of control now. A fire engine was sent for but it has been unable to reach the affected area as it malfunctioned while crossing Jagan River.
“The fire broke out while we were preparing food for a pooja in Jabdev’s house at 3:15 pm,” locals said.
According to a primary estimate, the fire has damaged property, clothes, food and furniture worth over Rs 50 lakh. The affected area lies some 10 kilometres from Siraha Bazaar, the district headquarters.
On Saturday, Bimala Devi Yadav, 60 died while another blaze gutted 30 houses in Hatkada VDC in the district.
