Nepal edges Malaysia in nail biter for final

KATHMANDU: Nepal charged into the final of the ongoing ACC Trophy Elite 2010 in Kuwait on Wednesday. Nepal set up the final clash on Saturday against Afghanistan after defeating Malaysia by a mere 8 runs in the nail-biting semifinal match held at Hubara Cricket Ground.

Nepal bowled out the Malaysia for 263 in 49.4 overs. Nepali bowlers Paras Khadka took two wickets for 42 runs whereas Sanjam Regmi got two wickets for 60 runs.
In Malaysia's innings Suresh scored a century with 115 runs whereas Sohan made 70 runs and Shafiq scored 31 runs.
Earlier, losing the toss and having to bat first, Nepal scored 271/6 where Sharad Veswakar was top scorer with 97 runs not out, while Shakti Gauchan completed his half century with 52 runs. Gyanendra Malla scored 49 runs, Mahesh Chhetri contributed 43 runs and Dipendra Chaudhary got 14 runs.
In the other semifinal, Afghanistan beat Hong Kong by five wickets. Earlier Hong Kong scored 205 in 48.1 overs losing all the wickets. In response Afghanistan achieved the victory target in the 44th over losing just five wickets.
