Army defuses bomb planted at campus chief residence

NEPALGUNJ: Army personnel defused a bomb planted in the house of Binod Agrawal, the campus chief of Babai Campus at Gulariya in Bardiya district on Friday.

Agrawal alleged that some members affiliated to All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), the student wing of Unified CPN (Maoist) planted the bomb at his home.
"They did so in a fit of rage after I snubbed their demand for donation," the campus chief said.
A bomb disposal squad of NA led by caption Rekha Khatri from Chhar Bahini Barrack from Nepalgunj disposed the bomb that was hanging in the gate of Agrawal's house since Friday night at 10 am today.
In another incident, police recovered some 30 small bombs kept hidden in sacks at Padanaha-5 in the district. Dilli Chaudhary, a local found the home-made bombs while he was ploughing in his field.
Bardiya CDO Beni Madhav Gywali said that a high alert has been sounded in the district ahead of the mass protest and indefinite strike announced by the UCPN-M.
