Irked by the continued obstruction of services at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), the locals have padlocked the gates of the hospital on Sunday.
The protesting locals have been demanding the resumption of services and warned that they won't allow doctors and the hospital management officials to go out until the impasse if resolved.
The two sides are holding talks in the hospital premises in their efforts to end the deadlock.
The locals have been protesting at the hospital gate since morning. The hospital has remained shut for last two weeks due to protests by the resident doctors and Free Student Union.
The locals earlier had threatened to cut essential supplies like water to hospital's hostel which compelled the doctors, who had shut emergency services as well, to return to work in emergency ward.
The hospital management has agreed to few of the demands raised by agitating doctors including scrapping of the recent entrance exams but agitators have not returned to their work
