POKHARA: UCPN-Maoist vice chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday made the claim that the late Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala wanted the present government to resign.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Revolutionary Journalists Association in Pokhara, Bhattarai claimed that late the Koirala had mentioned in the High-Level Political Mechanism meetings that the government should step down. He clarified that CPN- UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal was a witness to the statement in the HLPM meetings. In another context, Bhattarai said that the Maoists are not in favour of ethnic states but for nationality. He said that the Maoist-led government had even named a coordinator for the formation of a state restructuring committee in the past and that the Maoists are ready for the formation of the commission if necessary. However, he said that it should not overlap the CA Committee's jurisdiction.
Referring to former king Gyanendra’s recent controversial statement, he was of the view that Shah is trying to fish in troubled waters but he would get nothing more than a crab.
